Has history repeated itself? Henry VIII wanted to appoint English Bishops without Vatican approval. Maybe the head of the Chinese Government wants a divorce!

With their brownnosing "patriotic church" the Chinese government needs only to shift them to Orthodox designation.

The ChiComs have been appointing bishops quietly for a while. Sometimes, despite their 'elevation,' the Vatican has affirmed these bishops quietly, making them legit. The Chinese are obviously sending up some individuals that the Vatican doesn't want. I'm glad to see 'em booted, but why excommunication, unless these priests requested state-sanctioned elevation?

Disproportionate response!!!

How dare the pope commit such acts of savagery! The Vatican is committing war crimes against the innocent Chinese bishops.

Thanks to the evils of liberalism here and in Europe, the genie is now out of the bottle.

As a member of the Anglican Provence of Christ the King I am in sympathy with the Chinese Catholic Church. For centuries the Anglicans have had to endure the Roman charge that "divorce" and not nationalism began the English Catholic Church. Now the Chinese seem to be following England's example. The Vatican should cooperate with these Nationalist churches. More will follow!

Thankfully the Judeo Christian God doesn't excommunicate His followers. Some people have nerve ... .

He does "excommunicate" those who are unfaithful to him though. It's called hell.

No, the Vatican doesn't want Communist supporters as Bishops, that's the issue.

Perhaps you aren't aware of this, but the Chinese government puts Bishops into the National church that are supportive of their government, Communism. The Vatican wants to stop that and place Bishops in the Church that are in line with the Church's teaching against Communism.

Read the "complaints" of the English Church by the Vatican back then! The English Church, according to the Vatican, was/is far worse than the Commies.

They considered you heretics, but not Commies. That aside, do you still support a church that would put communists as Bishops simply because you have an issue with the Catholic Church?

Remember these Bishops are probably held to Chi-com requirements and not Vatican requirements, ie: one child, forced abortions etc.. the Vatican has every right to excommunicate anybody they deem unworthy of the cloth especially of they are beholden to a different master than true Catholics.

Are you sure that every Chinese Catholic Bishop believes in Communisn? What about all the Capitalist that now "operate" in China? Can't they, like the English, have a Nationalist Chruch?

Well I have a little evidence built up on what you believe on this thread, sorry but your behavior on this thread speaks of anti-catholicism.
